Visiting a new church can be a bit intimidating, and we know that!  To help ease the nerves, we've created a section of information about what to expect when you visit our home.  This information is also available on other portions of our website, but we are glad to answer any questions you may have about our community, feel free to email us!
Mission Statement

As members of the congregation, we make a covenant to support and nurture our life together in the name of Christ, in faithful and diligent use of the means of Grace, in prayer, in study and by our common efforts in support of the Church, as we seek to be God's servants in His world.

Where are we located?

Please use our map to find directions to our church.  We have ample parking surrounding our entire buildling with handicap access at both entrances.  When leaving our parking lot, please exercise caution at the light onto Old Bridge Road!
Children of all ages!

We welcome all children to each worship service, as we are all Children of God.  But if you would like, we offer a nursery staffed by at least two people for each service for children up through 3 years of age.
Education in the faith

Saint Matthew's provides Christian Education for all ages, running during the academic year (September through May/June).  More information can be found at the Christian Education Committee page or the Sunday Church School page.
Offering of our treasure:

After the sermon, an offering will be collected.  Ushers will come forward, receive the plates, and begin to pass the plates around.  This offering is a chance for the members to financially support the work of the Saint Matthew's community in response to the grace and blessings from God.  You are neither expected nor required to place anything in the offering plates, however, you are certainly welcome to share if you would like!
How we celebrate Communion:

All who are baptized are welcome to receive Holy Communion. This gift is itself the real presence of God's forgiveness and mercy.

Announcing your presence!

Yes, it's true, some congregations will make you stand up and identify yourself during the service!  Saint Matthew's is not one of those congregations.  Our greeters will meet you when you arrive and we hope you will stay to talk with us afterward.  We would ask you to sign our guest book located in our narthex by our information table if you are so moved.  If you are looking for a worship home, we invite you to make Saint Matthew's your family of faith.
What to wear?

God welcomes all to worship on Sunday mornings, and our community extends the same welcome.  We dress to honor and respect God's creation and that takes many forms from dresses, jackets and ties to jeans, polo shirts and boots.  Please wear what you feel is comfortable and honors the time together to worship God in our community of believers.
Following the flow of our service

A bulletin will be given to you by our ushers before you enter the nave.  The bulletin contains a detailed outline of the worship service.  Worship booklets and the ELW hymnal are located in the pews and seats and will match the bulletin's directions for parts of the service.  Liturgy is located in the worship booklets and the songs are found in the ELW.
