What is it?
This congregational potluck dinner kicks off the Advent season at Saint Matthew's. During the evening, a program based around the Jesse tree is narrated by the emcee, and families are invited to take part in the decoration of the Jesse tree.
Like the lessons during the Advent season, the Jesse tree pictures some of the people and events that are significant in the heritage of Jesus. The Jesse tree, however, focuses on each day of the season with stories and unique decorations adorn the tree with each telling during our Advent dinner.
Following the Jesse tree narration, each family is encouraged to take a Jesse tree symbol set to prepare at home.
